Penn Laurel was purchased by Joseph Martella, Sr, daughter, Jacqueline Martella, and son Joseph Martella, Jr. in 1997. The family of pharmacists brought their retail pharmacy experience to this welcoming community. The Martella family has been in business since 1964 when Joseph Sr. purchased Martella’s Pharmacy in Johnstown, PA across from Conemaugh Hospital. In 1991, the conglomerate purchased Boswell Prescription center in Boswell, PA.

Joseph Sr. was a graduate of Duquesne University School of Pharmacy. He was the proud father of six children, three of whom are involved in operating the family run pharmacies. Joe Sr. was most noted by his customers for his attention to customer service, his compassion and his charitable contributions to local charities and youth sports leagues.

Upon Joseph Sr. passing in 2001, Jacqueline and Joseph maintained ownership of Penn Laurel Pharmacy. Like their father, they are both graduates of Duquesne University School of Pharmacy and the both grew up working in the family pharmacy. They have continued their father’s legacy of providing “hometown” pharmacy services to all of their customers.
